This week, we were asked to attend a career or networking event, and I chose to go to a hiring event. Although it was primarily focused on part-time positions, it was for a brand I follow and admire: Haricot Vert. They recently opened a jewelry store in Williamsburg, not far from my current job, and I was curious to see the space, meet the team, and learn more about their process for creating pieces. I’ve been interested in jewelry design, so I was particularly drawn to the Jewelry Production Assistant position they were hiring for.

I arrived early and was one of the first in line. I had the opportunity to speak with Shae, the head of the design team. She was very nice, and I explained my previous experience in jewelry making, which seemed to catch her interest. After she mentioned that I should speak with her colleague, Olivia, who handles the hiring process, she assured me that she would pass my resume along.

When I spoke with Olivia, I expressed my enthusiasm for continuing to learn more about jewelry production and refining my skills in the field. She said I seemed like a good fit for the role, but despite the positive feedback, I didn’t leave feeling completely certain about my chances. I had a sense that I might not get the position, but I still have my current job, which is quite similar to the role I applied for.

Regardless of the outcome, I’m really glad I attended the event. It was a great opportunity to put myself out there. I’d still be very interested in applying again in the future or exploring other opportunities with Haricot Vert down the line.
