when you are studying architecture is really important to understanding safety of stairs in building construction because people use stairways in their everyday activities. there is a lot type of stairs that we motions there such as run, quarter and  turn, winding, circular, and spiral stairs. But even there are different they have so much safe code and rules that are similar any kind of stairs made must be conventional so that other architects can clearly read your section cuts and plan also have to be label and have the same measures for the enough people tp fit in. we also learn the rise that have to be a min numers. In conclusion, for all the designer stairs just can be on way PERFECT.

After reading this topic now I understanding more of Stairs and Egress. when we talk about strairs and egress we must mentions : Building codes that have some requirements for when considering the safety exits and paths in the  building. for emergency this gives all patrons a safe exit and path. even though stairs and egress can prevents the spread of fires, which can cause more damage to the structure. Stairs are so much important in buildings design and structure. all the desinger must take care a do perfect the stairs. The most important requirements are set for the min and max risers and trends.  after reading this I will never forget that landings should be as wide as the stairs widths.

For the walks the main point was based on the masonry walks this help us to describe the building’s composition more easy. In the walk we learn about the the different type of mansard such as: granite, marble, limestone, stone and brick. after this walk help us to learn more about masonry and we understood that the stone can be found by large pits when all the material are harvested. I think this walk was so fun because make us be able to talk about the mansard with a nice knowledge.

For this reflection is based on structural walk we saw some examples of the building system in NYC by walking the high line. we visualize some of the material that all the building was made such as steel, brick, concrete and wood. So, by seeing all this type of those materials we can defined how forces can react of tension and compression. I think that most of the important thing about construct a building is the material was built. and also we can saw a lot building undersconstruction and realize how the built type is changing and  how this work to built all nice building. Even though, we also saw the Whitney museum and their columns and also we saw in the bottom of the high line how the beam and girders works.

For ours first trip based on structural walk we went to Brooklyn bridge. in this structural walk we can saw a lot building based and built with some structural components. Some of the components that we saw was rigid frame, trusses and , shear wall. As we know, trusses is a framework with a triangle form that can give some reactions such as compression and tension. I really enjoyed this trip for the reasons that we saw a lot thick walls in some old building that can give us the perspective that are a good wall for resisted load. also we saw some vaults that are some archers in the ceiling.

reading drawings in class

Post of a reflection of the reading drawings class on Friday. First, last class was a fun class as always the professor give us a lot plan mixed of some building and we must figured which plan are the same in group. It was a fun and learning group assignment. There’s was some floor plan, section and elevation to us decide which one connected to another was a lil easy even though at the end we got some incorrect. But after this activities i sure that all of us learn that we must pay attention to the little details to connect then because even a windows can make a different. After this we made another activity that was to read and look a building of Columbia University that ours professor work on it it was so interesting to see all the details such as, the site plan, material, the structure , foundation, and more.

In the reading #1 we read about building systems that is divided in three major system that are structural, enclosure and mechanical system. for my understating building systems is the order and steps that have to follow any architect that is going to design any type of building. Even though, structural system is based on those primary elements that any building is really have to included as columns, beams, walls, floors, and roof structural. Enclosure system is about those secondary elements that any building need such as, window, door, exterior wall, and roof. Mechanical systems are based on the elements need to be or live in any building such as electricity, water, air.

Every architect need a space build anytime by using some structure and materials, materials such as masonry, stone, wood, steel and concrete. All this materials are essential for any building project however every part of the project will need to use any of this material to get a perfect building up.

After reading the concept map of architecture, I understood that every architect should always provide in their projects durable shelter, functional useful and cultural/ artistic for the reason that any project made by a architect should be build as a safe and comfortable space, adequate for the people that is building for and with a taste of originally and wonderful design. All this, made a perfect architect which always choose the right space, materials and structures for any kind o building. In conclusion of this concept map is that safe, useful and beauty with a taste of unique by using the right materials is all that will need to defined an architectures project.
