I have done a similar research type-activity before but the one that the class did in the library of Brooklyn Historical Society was a little different. In the past I’ve researched by looking for books and used them as reference but I have never done research just focusing on photographs. To make it more interesting the activity that we did was in a library that has a history in itself. What I learned during the research includes the gradual change of New York City (especially Brooklyn, albeit just Red Hook), how the city planners were preparing to modify or rebuilt existing sites and how the canals and docks began to change in terms of necessity.
