Welcome to my Dental Hygiene e-portfolio!

My name is Maria Inersy Nunez. I am 31 years old and originally from the Dominican Republic. I am passionate about dentistry and everything related to oral health care. I have a bachelor’s degree in marketing and business administration and further education and certification in dental hygiene at New York City College of Technology. I was a dental assistant for four years before becoming a dental hygienist. I love to work in dental hygiene because I help my patients feel good and confident about their smiles and overall health.

When I came to the USA in 2018, I worked as a dental assistant for almost four years. I was fascinated by working in a dental office and everything related to oral health care. I learned much as a dental assistant, but I knew I could learn more about dentistry and patient oral health care. That was when I decided to return to school to become a dental hygienist; this is an honor and a dream. I want to be an excellent professional and be successful in this new chapter of my life. Now, I am close to achieving one of the most significant accomplishments in my life. Returning to college in a new country with a new language has been challenging but not impossible.

Throughout my career, I have been committed to patient education and empowering patients to control their oral health. Prevention is the key to maintaining a healthy smile. I work closely with my patients to develop customized hygiene plans for their needs and lifestyles. Working as a dental assistant and treating my patients in college, I have gained much experience with different types of patients with multiple medical conditions.

I would not be who I am today without the love and support of god, my family, friends, and faculty, who have pushed me to work hard and accomplish my dream. This page will give you a glance at my experience in the dental hygiene field.  Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you in the future.
