Philosophy of Nursing

I believe the most important aspect of nursing is that I get to help people. I consider nursing to be a very respectable profession, and I am honored to say that I am a nurse. It has been a difficult road and journey for me to get my degree and license. Passing the NCLEX was literally one of the happiest days of my life. This couldnā€™t have been made possible without the desire, passion and dedication that I have for nursing.

What I see true about nursing is that it is a very rewarding field, I believe nursing is a very difficult field. You have endless possibilities and opportunities working as nurse. I love my profession and what I do for several reasons. I was born in the Ukraine, and was very ill as a child, I received proper medical care once I came to the United States, which I am forever grateful. I appreciate the medical field for that reason. I want to help people, I want to provide medical care and save peopleā€™s lives, like mine once was.

The nursing theory or model that I believe is best to use in nursing is the ā€œprimary nursingā€ theory. Primary nursing is a method of nursing practice which emphasizes continuity of care by having one nurse provide complete care for a small group of inpatients within a nursing unit of hospitals. I believe the future of nursing will prosper and nurses will always be highly in demand. I also believe that all nurses will be required to achieve a baccalaureate degree in nursing within 10 years of becoming a nurse. I believe the role of nurses in health care is vital, nurses are the only ones who spend the most time with and see the patient at bedside. During this time the nurse assesses the patient, cares for the patient and they build a nurse/ client relationship that is critical for the patientā€™s recovery.

I believe that a competent nurse should be self aware, should be able to perform a thorough head to toe assessment and use critical thinking while providing the best patient care possible. I hope that my future career in nursing only grows stronger and I am able to help as many people as possible and hopefully even save a life.
