SBS 3201: GENDER DRESS & SOCIETY

This course explores theories related to appearance, clothing, and fashion, focusing on their influence on cultural identities, gender perceptions, and fashion product consumption. It examines contemporary dress from both international and domestic cultures, analyzing dress as a communication system that reflects individuality and social status within systems of kinship, economy, religion, and politics. The course also looks at how the technologies and types of dress in a society relate to behaviors and beliefs about morality, hygiene, ritual, and beauty.
