It examines contemporary dress from both international and domestic cultures, analyzing dress as a communication system that reflects individuality and social status within systems of kinship, economy, religion, and politics. The course also looks at how the technologies and types of dress in a society relate to behaviors and beliefs about morality, hygiene, ritual, and beauty.
