Welcome to my Eportfolio my name is Yamile Bonifacio. I am from the Dominican republic but was raised in the Bronx , NY. I went to Dewitt Clinton high school in the Bronx. As a little girl I always liked doodling and drawing sketches in the margins of my notebook.I drew self portraits of my teachers, did my own holiday cards and even designed canvass art for my room wall. I began to get recognition from my friends and my peers and my mother encouraged me to pursue the art field. I didn’t think of pursuing art for a career at the time. As I grew older into my high school years I started to appreciate art more by seeing work on social media and started to consider going to New York city college of technology to pursue design .
I began to become inspired by artist like Shepherd Fairey and Banksy for some of their work and the message they send without words to society inspired me because that was always the part of art that motivated me. Also seeing cartoons when I was younger and the joy it brought me also made me consider art as a profession. As I progressed in my studies at City tech graphic design have really Interested me and caught my attention as well as illustration and advertising although my Interests are broad I just know art and design is something I love doing.
My Courses
This basic design and color theory course explores graphic communication through the understanding of the elements and principles of design, as well as the design process, including idea development through final execution. Students develop basic skills in two-dimensional design, color and content creation while employing the design process of research, sketching and experimentation. Communication designers use the concepts explored in this course in disciplines such as advertising, graphic design, web design, illustration, broadcast design, photography, and game design.
COMD 3601 E254 Information Design Fall 2017
Thursday 6:00-8:30 pm In this course students will explore and develop several kinds of information graphics, including data graphics, visual explanations, and way finding systems. Students will also explore exhibition design. We will touch on the history of info graphics and will find ways they are appearing in new technology. This course will encourage students to stretch their minds while building on the foundation of typography, color and composition. Students will develop new skills in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, and consider other software tools for info graphics development.
COMD3503 D226 Spring2017 Topic in Graphic Design
Explores the role of graphic designer in contemporary visual communications with related design assignments and research. Graphic design trends; the impact of computer technology; examination of the work of major 20th century designers; global graphics; the ongoing dialogue between advertising and graphic design. A large emphasis will be placed on awareness of the design world by observing the principles of design in our community: books, publications, web sources, museums and graphic art organizations. COMD4900 Internship HD97 GOETZ Fall 2017
Student is assigned to find fieldwork/study situations of approximately eight hours per week at an internship site approved by the Department Internship instructor. Approved Sites include advertising agencies, graphic design firms corporate design offices, publications art departments, photography or illustration studios, TV or multimedia production companies. Students will be required to keep a learning journal of their internship in the form of a blog using Openlab. A portion of the class will be devoted to presenting and sharing experiences with classmates. Students will learn how to assess their talents, update their resume, and promote themselves and their work through social networks during class meetings. Students will be required to setup and maintain at least two social media networks such as: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.
CDMG1111 D311 SPRING 2016 Goetz
This course introduces students to core concepts in the media field including color theory, design and production terminology, reproduction processes, file formats and substrates. During the semester, students will complete three pages of their own ePortfolio web site, complete a print design project and one video project. Lectures will provide students with a historical perspective of the media field as well as discussing current practices and future trends.

My Clubs
We are a design club at New York City College of Technology. We host Meet the Pros (facebook.com/meetthepros) speaker series and we release an annual design magazine, Command+J.
This club is open to all City Tech students, but was originally conceived for the students of the Advertising Design & Graphic Arts (ADGA) Department. We have formed to help bring traditional printmaking techniques back into the general awareness of our members in order to ground them more fully in the philosophy and heritage of graphic arts design and production. We work to offer informative lectures, presentations, exhibitions, demonstrations, and field trips for our students to explore all forms of printmaking, including but not limited to screenprint, relief, lithography, and intaglio.
