Multi Se­mes­ter: This is an on­line repos­i­tory for HMGT 3502 and is in­tended to span be­yond a sin­gle se­mes­ter. Any stu­dent is wel­come to join, par­tic­i­pate, etc. Goal One: To help stu­dents who have com­pleted 10 weeks of the course to self eval­u­ate their aca­d­e­mic per­for­mance to gain an in­tro­spec­tive un­der­stand­ing of the im­pact of their dili­gence, time man­age­ment, or­ga­ni­za­tional skills, re­search skills, and other aca­d­e­mic abil­i­ties on their learn­ing out­comes for HMGT 3502. Goal Two: To help stu­dents en­ter­ing HMGT 3502 learn from the real world ex­pe­ri­ence of their peers, by read­ing com­ments, help­ful sug­ges­tions, warn­ings, tricks, tips and “hacks” cre­ated by their peers.

Multi Semester: This is an online repository for HMGT 3502 and is intended to span beyond a single semester. Any student is welcome to join, participate, etc. Goal One: To help students who have completed 10 weeks of the course to self evaluate their academic performance to gain an introspective understanding of the impact of their diligence, time management, organizational skills, research skills, and other academic abilities on their learning outcomes for HMGT 3502. Goal Two: To help students entering HMGT 3502 learn from the real world experience of their peers, by reading comments, helpful suggestions, warnings, tricks, tips and “hacks” created by their peers.

In this elec­tive Hos­pi­tal­ity Man­age­ment course, stu­dents learn to pre­pare many styles of can­dies and bon­bons work­ing with ad­vanced con­fec­tionery tech­niques. Al­though our goal is to pro­duce can­dies, stu­dents learn how they can be ap­plied to plated dessert com­po­nents. Pack­ag­ing is an im­por­tant focus in this class since mar­ket­ing is a big sales win­ner.

In this elective Hospitality Management course, students learn to prepare many styles of candies and bonbons working with advanced confectionery techniques. Although our goal is to produce candies, students learn how they can be applied to plated dessert components. Packaging is an important focus in this class since marketing is a big sales winner.

With New York City as a world food cul­ture lab­o­ra­tory, stu­dents will ex­plore the con­cept of culi­nary tourism and its eco­nomic im­pact on the tourism in­dus­try. Stu­dents will cre­ate, mar­ket and con­duct their own NYC culi­nary walk­ing tour. Stu­dents will co-cre­ate the Hos­pi­tal­ity Man­age­ment De­part­ment’s NYC Culi­nary Guide to Restau­rants and Food Shops on Open Lab.

With New York City as a world food culture laboratory, students will explore the concept of culinary tourism and its economic impact on the tourism industry. Students will create, market and conduct their own NYC culinary walking tour. Students will co-create the Hospitality Management Department’s NYC Culinary Guide to Restaurants and Food Shops on Open Lab.
