This course provides an introduction to health promotion and disease prevention strategies within the US healthcare system. Students will gain an appreciation of common determinants of health and prevalent risk factors. Through application of the health models, such as BEINGS (Biology, Environment, Immunology, Nutrition, Genetics, Social), students will gain an understanding of the functional aspects of health care.
Practicum for discipline-related skills and competencies using electronic health records and practice management software to enable students to conduct knowledge-based managerial and policy-related decision making.
