ENG 1121 D476 Fall 2019

ENG 1121 D476 Fall 2019

Welcome to ENG 1121! This course builds on its prerequisite, ENG 1101. Together, we will explore and write within new genres, conduct research, and reflect on our writing practices. The big goal is that after you finish this sequence, you’ll be able to analyze and participate in genres inside and outside of higher ed. We’re aiming to build skills that will be useful in future coursework, the workplace, and in your personal lives. In other words, this course isn’t self-contained—we’re aiming to give you a toolbox of skills that you can apply across situations.

Africana Foklore AFR 1120 FALL 2018

Africana Foklore AFR 1120 FALL 2018

In this course we explore African and African-derived folk traditions and examine how they have been transmitted from Africa to the Americas and the Caribbean. We will see how Africans and people of African descent have created and transformed their various oral, customary and material lore, including folk-tales, folk-art, music and dance, into mechanisms for cultural and physical survival. We will compare and contrast some African folktales with related stories from the Caribbean, North and South America. We will also explore the traditions expressed in music, food, celebrations and other expressions of folk culture.

My Clubs

Anime Gaming Underground

Anime Gaming Underground

Anime & Gaming Underground is a social club where people who are interested in animation, Japanese anime, animation/anime card games (such as: Magic and Yu-Gi-Oh), roll playing games, and video/computer games can hang out and have fun.

Mechanical Club (ASME Student Chapter)

Mechanical Club (ASME Student Chapter)

Mechanical Engineering Club serves as a junior chapter of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) in City Tech. The club promotes hands-on learning through multidisciplinary design activities and exposing students to the latest emerging technology.

Energy and Environmental Simulation Laboratory (EES Lab)

Energy and Environmental Simulation Laboratory (EES Lab)

Research Lab Website: openlab.citytech.cuny.edu/eesl/ Lab Profile (this site): openlab.citytech.cuny.edu/groups/energy-and-environmental-simulation-laboratory/ Energy and Environmental Simulation Laboratory (EES Lab) is Professor Masato R. Nakamura’s research group based on Mechanical Engineering Department in New York City College of Technology (City Tech), The City University of New York (CUNY). This laboratory is a professional research unit, not a student club, but opens to everyone who would like to conduct research on energy, environmental engineering (including ecodesign), and computing for sustainability. Also, it’s for people who wish to obtain Research and Development (R&D) skills required in a high-level position in the industry and academia. Excellent students can be recommended to become research assistants in order to publish a paper as a co-author, and have an oral presentation in an international conference. These research activities make students’ resume strong (R&D skills, publication, professional presentation) and will be a huge advantage for finding an engineering position or being accepted to graduate schools for Master or doctoral degree. If you are interested in joining EES Lab, please send Professor Masato R. Nakamura (Tel: 718-260-5532, mnakamura@citytech.cuny.edu ) your resume and answers of following questions: 1) What kinds of research fields are you interested in? 2) How many hours per week can you spend for conducting research? 3) Describe your skills/knowledge of math, physics, computers, and experimental work (lab hands-on skills). 4) After finishing your degree program, what kind of industry or graduate school program you’d like to go?
