This is an in­tro­duc­tory course in sta­tis­tics and prob­a­bil­ity. Top­ics cov­ered in­clude de­scrip­tive sta­tis­tics, cor­re­la­tion and re­gres­sion, sam­ple spaces and prob­a­bil­i­ties, dis­crete prob­a­bil­ity dis­tri­b­u­tions, ex­pec­ta­tion and vari­ance, con­tin­u­ous prob­a­bil­ity dis­tri­b­u­tions, con­fi­dence in­ter­vals, and hy­poth­e­sis test­ing. Spread­sheets are used through­out the se­mes­ter.

This is an introductory course in statistics and probability. Topics covered include descriptive statistics, correlation and regression, sample spaces and probabilities, discrete probability distributions, expectation and variance, continuous probability distributions, confidence intervals, and hypothesis testing. Spreadsheets are used throughout the semester.

This model course is de­signed for use by fac­ulty teach­ing MAT 1375 on the Open­Lab – it in­cludes a num­ber of re­sources and sam­ple as­sign­ments to help you get started. If you are a fac­ulty mem­ber, you can “clone the course” to cre­ate a copy for your use, and cus­tomize it in what­ever way you wish. This is a course in ef­fec­tive essay writ­ing and basic re­search tech­niques, in­clud­ing use of the li­brary. Col­lege-level read­ings are as­signed as the basis for class­room dis­cus­sion and for essay writ­ing.

This is a course in effective essay writing and basic research techniques, including use of the library. College-level readings are assigned as the basis for classroom discussion and for essay writing.
