Mahreen Munawar’s Profile
My name is Mahreen Munawar. I’m a junior at City Tech and I am currently majoring in Communication Design. I was initially attracted to this major because I have always wanted to do something in art. I like how a creative major allows you to be flexible with the work you do and incorporate constant change in your art style whether it is digital or not. I am constantly trying to evolve my art style because I think it’s important to experiment until you find something you love and I believe I am close to finding it.
Some of my hobbies include reading and painting and digital art.

Survey of Western Art from 1300 to the Present
COMD3527 Advanced Typography, SP24
2 cl hrs, 2 lab hrs Explores design and type sensibilities, challenging students to strengthen their creative and visual aesthetics. With emphasis on sensitivity to type, exercises integrate type within a variety of different mediums including page layouts as well as kinetic design. Prerequisite: COMD 1257
Independently, students engage in research, conceptualization, and the development of a comprehensive project spanning multiple media platforms. This project employs design thinking to tackle a modern-day concern.
Internship in Communication Design (Hybrid) Writing Intensive 2 cl hrs, 120 field hrs/semester (BFA degree) Assignment to fieldwork/study situations of approximately 12+ hours per week at an internship site approved by the department Internship Coordinator: an advertising agency, graphic design firm, corporate design office, publications art department, photography or illustration studio, TV or media production company. Each student keeps a blog/journal to be shared in group seminars. Supervision is by faculty and by the supervisor at the internship site. The class is a hybrid class. Internships may be undertaken during the spring, summer and fall semesters. Prerequisites: COMD 3701 or COMD 4701 or department approval. Course offered spring, summer and fall semesters Students will be required to keep a learning journal of their internship in the form of a blog using Open Lab.
The emphasis in this intermediate photography class is on creative problem solving with photography for the Communication Design field. Students learn to transform subject matter with photographic style in order to communicate ideas.
