COMD4830 Senior Project, S2018
In this course students, working with individual faculty, will develop and complete a semester project for presentation. Assignments may include corporate identity programs, public service advertising/graphic design campaigns, design and illustration of a children’s book, website development and design, re-design of a magazine. A minimum of eight (8) meetings with the Senior Project advisor(s) must be scheduled to meet the requirements of the course. Each student enrolled in the course will meet with the advisor to discuss the ongoing developments within the project. Ongoing project evaluations will be maintained by the faculty advisor(s). Final evaluations will be made by the faculty advisor and the Senior Project review committee.
ARTH3311 SP18 History of Graphic Design
The major designers and the aesthetic and technical developments in print media from antiquity to the present are studied in their cultural and artistic contexts. Renaissance to modern practices are extensively examined.
COMD4900HD96 FALL 2017 Internship
Student is assigned to find fieldwork/study situations of approximately eight hours per week at an internship site approved by the Department Internship instructor. Approved Sites include advertising agencies, graphic design firms corporate design offices, publications art departments, photography or illustration studios, TV or multimedia production companies. Students will be required to keep a learning journal of their internship in the form of a blog using Openlab. A portion of the class will be devoted to presenting and sharing experiences with classmates. Students will learn how to assess their talents, update their resume, and promote themselves and their work through social networks during class meetings. Students will be required to setup and maintain at least two social media networks such as: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.

Living Lab General Education Seminar
This site serves as a primary hub of information and resources for participants of the City Tech Living Lab General Education Seminar beginning in Spring 2019. General Education is a critical component of City Tech’s curriculum. This seminar provides support and training to full-time and part-time faculty seeking to enhance their integration of Gen Ed learning objectives into their assignments and courses. This site has compiled links to many of the Gen Ed seminar sites from previous years to serve as an archive and historical overview of the seminar.
Faculty Commons Internship Journal
Faculty Commons, A Center for Teaching, Learning, Scholarship and Service coordinates all professional development, grants and assessment activities of faculty at New York City College of Technology. Faculty Commons adopts a programmatic approach to professional development and operates as a faculty resource and think tank where members collaborate on a variety of projects to shape curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. In accordance with the College goals and strategic plan and with support from CUNY, the Office of the Provost, the College Council and the Professional Development Advisory Council, Faculty Commons will strive to improve and promote the quality and excellence of faculty at New York City College of Technology.
WAC Digital Initiatives: Writing Intensive Certification
Current and potential writing intensive (WI) course instructors now have the opportunity to complete the certification process online, in a fast-tracked method well-suited to some faculty members’ crammed schedules. Over the course of the academic year, this born-digital initiative offers faculty a space in which they can view past workshops; discuss how WAC principles work in their own classrooms and disciplines; and submit and share resources. After participating in this project, faculty will submit a portfolio of revised materials to complete the certification process.
