Lenny’s Profile
Art, Design, Athletics/ Sports
Lenny Cruz Santiago is a graphic designer from Brooklyn, NY. He is currently a student at New York City College of Technology where he is looking to develop his designing skills and pursue a career as a graphic designer. Lenny has always had a passion for art. He was first introduced to art at Midwood high school when he took a graphic design and video production course. This course made him realize that art had to be part of his future career. Lenny learned that image and video editing programs are very important in the creative industry and the marketing industry. Image and visual editing software can be used to enhanced images and videos and make them look more pleasant.
He works with programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator to communicate his thoughts and ideas in the form of art. He mainly uses Photoshop to edit images. He likes to work with black and white images that have mainly low key values. He uses black and white monochrome images because of the contrast and the rich blacks add emotions and moods. He uses adobe illustrator to create logos, posters, and social media banners.
My Courses
In this course, students learn to refine their conceptual thinking, and the ability to apply design concepts across various media channels. This course challenges students to think and strategically apply campaign ideas. At this stage, students choose a media placement and incorporate it into the solution. The course also introduces the collaborative relationship between Art Director and Copywriter. Student teams brainstorm, develop copy, art direct and pitch ideas in teams. Students will explore the dialogue between products and services and how to communicate their benefits and features to the intended target. Project based assignments from concept through final digital output are an integral part of the course.
