This 3-hour lab consists of a series of workshops that offer supportive instruction and training in a variety of software programs, digital tools and platforms. These workshops are introductions to the programs and tools for digital imaging, graphics, video, sound, and interactive design. Specifically, students are work with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Audition and Unity. The workshops are designed to foster a culture of collaboration and sustainable learning communities.
Students are expected to complete a series of guided assignments that cultivate digital skill sets as well as offer conceptual frameworks, which lend themselves to interactive storytelling and game studies. Active participation in class is required as well as timely completion of assignments.

This course is an introduction to emerging, interactive multi-media technology with a focus on interdisciplinary, project-based, cooperative learning. Students will be immersed in the protocols and processes of emerging and interactive media design, including: idea development, research, documentation, presentation, prototyping, and production, which will serve them in the face of rapid changes in technology. Students will explore basic theoretical and applied concepts of audio, visual, haptic, immersive, sensory and interaction design through creative group projects, visiting professionals, field trips and online documentation of their work.

Sky is the limit. Explore the universe with Slooh.com online remote controlled telescopes located around the world. City Tech Astronomy Club members can use the 10+ Slooh telescopes to conduct and participate in live observation sessions through a web browser interface. Join the fun and have a blast looking at remote galaxies, newly created as well as dying and exploding stars, dark spots on Sun surface, rings around Saturn and craters and mountains on the Moon.

Every 2 weeks, we pick a new topic (apps, environment art, interactive fiction, 3D modeling…) and challenge you to make a mini project on it. Each one comes with tutorials, inspiration + download linksβ so you don’t need any experience to join. Find your favorite role, team up with other students for passion projects, have a support system for when you get stuck, and try something new.
