Focused on website design and development, topics include creative user interface design and best workflow practice. User Experience (UX) Design is an essential component in developing websites, applications, and any other type of product intended to be used by people. This course examines the leading concepts of user—centered design through readings, discussions and assignments. Practical concerns include evaluation of technology needed to create or maintain websites; and exploration of a step-by-step process for creating products using flow charts, wireframes and prototypes. Students will also gain an understanding of issues surrounding usability on the Web, knowledge management and Web strategy.

This course teaches students to create finished, professional-quality sequential illustrations combining words and pictures based on topical themes, autobiographical stories, and self-guided narratives. Topics and strategies include storytelling focusing on single-panel, multi-panel, and multiple-page sequential illustrated stories. Projects will be completed using an array of digital and traditional media. This class will focus on sequential art: sequential art can be comic books, graphic novels, children’s books, comic strips, and more. COMD1112 D013 Digital Media Foundations Spring 2022

This course reflects a mix of creative and academic practice to build critical thinking and imagination within the framework of today’s technology, including color theory, design and production terminology, reproduction processes, file formats and substrates. The students will upload their projects on their own ePortfolio, a video with its screenplay, a design for online and print, and their research papers. Lectures will provide students with a historical perspective of the media field as well as discussing current practices and future trends.
