Industrial Decline of the Red Hook Waterfront
This presentation concerns the shipping container and its impact on the Brooklyn waterfront. It uncovers how Red Hook’s once powerful maritime economy fell into industrial decline as a result of containerization and the construction of highways. This work was presented at the 41st Semi-Annual JLM Honors Scholars & Undergraduate Research Poster Presentation.
