Bio

Hello, my name is Hadassah Boodhoo, I am studying Communications Design in City Tech to become an Illustrator/Animator.

I can barely remember when I first picked up a marker and started drawing. My mom would always tell me stories of me drawing on things like the floor, on the off-white walls to even drawing on my little brother’s face. However, I wasn’t too serious about it, until I started third grade. It was the ”golden year” for me. People took notice of my drawings and this continues on throughout all my years in school. This became my ambition to become an artist. When I was in middle school, I remember drawing dark concepts in my art pieces, they were hauntingly beautiful in such a way, that people really enjoyed it, some even questioned my intentions, even though, I did not fully understand it. I just thought it was interesting, and continued on to high school, to which, I fully grasped the concepts in my artworks. I started using that and made connections to my life and those around me and draw about it. It was like storytelling for me. I was able to fully explain the meaning of my artworks without hesitation. I got advice from my Art teacher–suggested I do Illustration as my major. So I followed her advice and began creating more pieces of art that convey a story behind it. Art for me is one of the forms of expression, where I can be able to express myself freely.

We’re aiming to build skills that will be useful in future coursework, the workplace, and in your personal lives. In other words, this course isn’t self-contained—we’re aiming to give you a toolbox of skills that you can apply across situations.
