Graphic Design and Animation
Gabriel Nunez is a hardworking student who majors in Communication Design at CUNY New York City College of Technology. Striving to complete his bachelor’s degree, he dreams of someday working for Marvel Studios and being apart of the movie industry. Aside from homework every night, Gabriel practices at home daily to better perfect his skills in the arts so that he can be prepared for any challenge to come. Aside from his practices, he makes a living currently working at Panera Bread, a simple job as a cashier that he enjoys very much. Sometimes, Gabriel continues his business as a freelance logo designer creating clothing brands and banners for his clients.
As a child, Gabriel’s best subject was always in the arts, which gave him the idea that doing art for a living was something he wanted to achieve. After continuing his art education in two different art high schools and is attending his second art college, Gabriel feels confident he is a step closer to his dreams. Although looking forward to graduating next year, he hopes to be the best possible A student he can be and achieve honors for his hard work. Five years from now, Gabriel sees himself working for a graphic design company with many internships under his belt before tackling on Marvel. Gabriel feels confident in himself and knows he can achieve his dreams through his handwork and dedication to his studies.

This course is a practical introduction to the field of illustration. Focus will be placed on process work and professional practices, presented within contemporary and historical context. Course includes projects and lectures in a variety of illustration genres including: advertising, book illustration, and editorial. A variety of materials will be introduced through lectures and demonstrations for use on assignments such as: pencil, pen and ink, brush, and digital illustration. Critical concepts such as: Conceptual Development, Working on Assignment, Composition, Contrast, Value, Point of View, and Color theory will be introduced.
3D Design COMD3292D222 Spring2020
Principles of three-dimensional design. Course covers an analysis of form and space. Topics include: hollow forms both geometric and organic; architectonic organization of space; light and shadow; geometric solids; the modular unit; form and structure in nature; linear forms with membranes; movement. Applications to packaging, architecture, sculpture and environmental design and graphics. Materials and inherent properties governing their use in form and space.
This course introduces students to core concepts in the media field including color theory, design and production terminology, reproduction processes, file formats and substrates. Lectures will provide students with a historical perspective of the media field as well as discussing current practices and future trends.
