This is the introductory course in American Government, with the main focus on the national level but some attention to state and local levels as well. This OpenLab site contains course materials as well as links to news sites and a discussion board to exchange ideas. Please keep disagreements friendly, and please keep in mind that our main purpose is more to analyze than to react and fume. CET4773 | Fall 2024| Dr. Mendoza
Technologies, protocols, and techniques used to connect a computer network with other networks through the use of gateways that provide a common method of routing information packets between the networks. Internetworking technology allows computing devices to other internal and external devices, components or systems. Topics include Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) implementation, wireless networks implementation, network security, advanced switching and routing configuration, advanced TCP/IP configuration, and network management. In particular, this semester will focus on the content required to obtain the CCENT/CCNA ICND1 certification from CISCO. NOTE: This course was formerly known as Microcomputer Interfacing.
EMT 1150 Electrical Circuits – Fall 2018
Sections: D372-LEC & D376-LEC Introduction to the basic principles of direct and alternating current circuits. Topics include linear and nonlinear passive components, transient response and phase relationships. Laboratory work is performed both in school and at home (using student-purchased kits). The use of the multi-meter, oscilloscope and frequency generator is introduced; computers are used for problem-solving.
2021 Spring – MAT 2680 – Differential Equations – Reitz
A differential equation is an equation that relates a function to one or more of its derivatives. – The above rather boring description does little to convey just how fundamental, widespread, and amazingly effective differential equations are in describing the world around us. – Examples: Anything in motion. Also, many things that are not in motion. Also, many additional things to which the word “motion” does not really apply. – Further examples: spaceships in orbit, populations growing and shrinking, a cup of coffee slowly cooling, springs bouncing, financial markets rising and falling, electrical current flowing through a circuit, ocean waves, sound waves, light waves, vibrations in musical instruments and airplane wings and suspension bridges, – More examples: Pretty much everything. This is an advanced course in communication skills, including the expository essay and the research essay. This course further develops students’ reading and writing skills through literary and expository readings. In this class students will write analytical essays in a variety of rhetorical modes to cultivate interpretive skills. Using close reading, discussion, and various writing techniques, you will consider language, details and style to develop your analytical and academic writing skills. This is a communications intensive course; you will be expected to participate actively in class discussions and presentations, write informal and formal essays, and respond to your classmates’ writing.
