My Courses
The emphasis in this intermediate photography class is on creative problem solving with photography for the Communication Design field. Students learn to transform subject matter with photographic style in order to communicate ideas.
In this course, students will engage some of the key elements of the interface of language, culture and society. We will examine how dialects affect social standing, why some languages are preferred over others, why some dialects are considered more socially advantageous than others, and many more topics that you probably have encountered as a language speaker, but have never really thought about or questioned.

This course introduces students to core concepts in the graphic communications field including typography, color theory, design and production terminology, reproduction processes, file formats and substrates.
COMD1103 Foundation Drawing, D120, FA2016
This is an introductory course designed to explore the basic tools, techniques and principles of drawing. Students will develop an understanding of the five basic perceptual skills of drawing: The Perception of Edges, The Perception of Spaces, The Perception of Relationships, The Perception of Light and Shadow, and The Perception of the Whole Form. This will be continued with an-depth study of classical drawing principles critical to achieving realism in drawing. Concepts such as Composition, Proportion and Perspective will be covered. Students will learn to further render forms through analysis of light and shadow and by utilizing the 5-value system.
Language, Culture and Society course examines the relationship between language use and social and cultural structures. It engages issues of language policy, language variation, dialects, and language change, among many other topics.
