My name is Charmayne Smith and I am studying in Communication design management in New York City College Of Technology to pursue clothing designs.Along with clothing i’m also interested in photography . My major goal in life is to make my own clothing line with my creative designs. Some concepts that would be apart of my designs are 80’s/90’s theme, religious theme, inspirational quotes. To reach my goal of becoming a graphic designer is to learn as much as possible in citytech. So far some courses I took in citytech are Graphic design principles 1 , Type and Media , Digital Photography 1 and Raster and Vector, Now I am taking Digital media foundations and Intro of Film and Video. In high school I was into making designs on a website called spreadshirt with designs people already made, I always wanted to be the one to wear something different, clothes that people never saw before. My art/photography teacher in high school influenced me into doing photography and making designs. One thing that I will always remember with her is making my very first shirt with a design at the front that that says “Music iS life” and on the back had a quote saying ”turn up the music and turn down the drama”.

So far I’m learning how to use photoshop, illustrator, indesign and premiere pro. My favorite program to use is Illustrator because I find it to be easier and faster to make designs. During the years that I began to be interested in graphic design was through instagram and clothing websites such as “NowThatsLegit” , “Kidd Chief” and “Vintage Bleach”. Their designs inspired me to be more of a graphic designer.
