Corina Calinescu’s Profile
Representations of infinite dimensional Lie algebras, vertex operator algebras, combinatorics
Professor Calinescu obtained her PhD at Rutgers University. Before joining the Mathematics Department at City Tech, she was a Gibbs Assistant Professor at Yale University, and a Zassenhaus Assistant Professor at the Ohio State University. Professor Calinescu is a Doctoral Faculty at the Graduate Center.
My Courses
MAT 2440, Discrete Structures and Algorithms, Spring 2020
This course introduces the foundations of discrete mathematics as they apply to computer science, focusing on providing a solid theoretical foundation for further work. Topics include functions, relations, sets, simple proof techniques, Boolean algebra, propositional logic, elementary number theory, writing, analyzing and testing algorithms.
MAT1575, Calculus II, Spring 2020
Topics include Taylor polynomials, Mean Value Theorem, Taylor and Maclaurin series, tests of convergence, techniques of integration, improper integrals, areas, volumes and arc lengths.
Topics include an in-depth study of functions such as polynomial functions, inverse functions, radical functions, rational functions, trigonometric functions, exponential and logarithmic functions; solving inequalities; elements of vectors and complex numbers; solving trigonometric equations and identities involving sum, double and half-angle formulas; Binomial Theorem; and progressions. A graphing calculator is required. Prerequisite: MAT 1275 or CUNY Placement
MAT2440, Discrete Mathematics and Algorithm, I, Fall 2018
This course introduces the foundations of discrete mathematics as they apply to computer science, focusing on providing a solid theoretical foundation for further work. Topics include functions, relations, sets, simple proof techniques, Boolean algebra, propositional logic, elementary number theory, writing, analyzing and testing algorithms.
