2014 spring – MAT 2680 Differential Equations – Reitz
A differential equation is an equation that relates a function to one or more of its derivatives. – The above rather boring description does little to convey just how fundamental, widespread, and amazingly effective differential equations are in describing the world around us. – Examples: Anything in motion. Also, many things that are not in motion. Also, many additional things to which the word “motion” does not really apply. – Further examples: spaceships in orbit, populations growing and shrinking, a cup of coffee slowly cooling, springs bouncing, financial markets rising and falling, electrical current flowing through a circuit, ocean waves, sound waves, light waves, vibrations in musical instruments and airplane wings and suspension bridges, – More examples: Pretty much everything. Topics include methods of solving ordinary differential equations and applications to various problems. My Projects
The CUNY Service Corps will mobilize CUNY students, faculty and staff to work on projects that improve the short and long-term civic, economic and environmental sustainability of New York City and of its residents and communities. The program’s goals are three-fold: for students to make a meaningful difference through service while gaining valuable real-world work experience, earning a wage, and where appropriate, receiving college credit; for faculty members and staff, through their work with students in the program, to have additional opportunities to apply their expertise to addressing many of the city’s key challenges; and for residents, communities, and project sponsors to realize concrete benefits as a result of CUNY Service Corps projects.

Minority Association of Pre-Medical & Pre-Health Students (M.A.P.S.) Club
What is MAPS? -The Minority Association of Pre-Health Students that provides a network of pre-med and pre-health students and chapters nationwide. What is the purpose of MAPS? -To provide underrepresented pre-mhealth students with knowledge, skills, and experience that are both prerequisite and concomitant to professional participation in health care fields. -To improve minority matriculation into all professional health related programs, with an emphasis on medicine. -To foster support and serve as a resource for current and future students interested in health care.
