Sample Exam #2

I’m still testing out the timed exam feature in Rederly so I’m not ready port the sample exam over into that format yet. However, I’ve decided to open it as a homework (with 2 attempts per problem) in the platform for the time being. Try it out, and time yourself at 2 hours.

On Monday, I will move the sample exam over to the timed format so you can practice in the new mode. You will get new versions of the exam to try, each on a 2 hour timer with 2 attempts per problem.

This is how you will take Exam #2, so be sure to try it out ahead of time with your sample so you know exactly what to expect on exam day.

For extra practice, you can also work on the excel review sheet here.

Exam #2

Exam #2 (as posted on our Course Calendar) is on Thursday 10/29. Please mark your calendar. It covers Lessons 6-13.

Grading for the Exam: 33% WeBWorK score, 33% written work score, 33% oral questions.

WeBWorK: Your exam will be available in WeBWorK on Thursday 10/29 from 1 pm – 5 pm. You will be allowed to take 2 different versions of the exam (each will be timed at 2 hours from the time you start the exam, and each will have a limit of 2 attempts per problem).

Written WorK: You have until 20 minutes from the end of your WeBWorK exam to submit your written work in Blackboard. There will be an assignment called “Exam #2 – Written Work” where you may upload your work (you may upload work for each version of the exam you take). For every 20 minutes the written work is late you will lose 20/100 points for it.

Your written work will not be graded and you will not receive credit if you do not follow the following instructions:

  • Write your name at the top of your work AND include your name in the file name.
  • Your written work MUST be uploaded to Blackboard under the assignment “Exam #2 – Written Work” as a pdf or Excel document.
  • Files submitted via email will not be accepted.
  • No jpegs or other file format will be accepted.
  • An easy way to create a pdf from photos taken with your mobile device is to use a free mobile scanning app like “Easy Scanner” or “Genius Scan.”
  • Do not submit, multiple separate pdf documents and submit one, merged, pdf document instead. You can merge pdfs online for free.

City Tech’s Academic Integrity Policy will be STRICTLY ENFORCED. Cheating of any kind including using work from automated math solvers will result in a FAILING GRADE FOR THE COURSE, reported to the university and, possibly, further action such as academic probation/suspension from the college. You are encouraged to review the Academic Integrity Policy in advance:

Oral question: You must sign up for a 5 minute oral conference with me here.

You must be signed up by the start time of Exam #2, at 1 pm, on Thursday 10/29. I will create a Blackboard Collaborate session for the oral conferences. If requesting a phone call, it is your responsibility to send me your phone number in advance. You will be asked to explain your process for solving 1-2 questions from the exam. I will randomly select the questions.

If you have any questions about this process, we can talk more in class or during office hour.
