RQ:
My research question is: How are athletes brains unique? Being an athlete myself, I’m interested in learning more about the advantages and capabilities of sports. I’m curious about what drives us to keep going after our objectives and to stay active in spite of a number of challenges. I already know that the brain systems of athletes play a significant role in sports. Dopamine, which is linked to motivation and pleasure, is frequently found in higher concentrations in athletes. The connection between the brain’s system and extreme activity may be a curious angle.

Part 2 Summary:
In this video “How playing sports benefits your body … and your brain,” Leah Lagos and Jaspal Ricky Singh describe how playing sports or doing physical activity benefits you mentally. At the very start of the video she talks about how most athletes have goals which builds their mindset and brain. She discusses how young athletes’ health improves the earlier they begin because their bone and muscle strength increases. Also, it can reduce the risk of stroke, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Lagos explains how number of chemicals release from your brain especially endorphins when you workout. Almost all of an athlete’s benefits are psychological, she said. Whether it’s a competitive solo game or a team game, it helps you grow socially and psychologically. They mention how school sports participation has show that it has reduced 4 straight years of depression and I myself can agree to this fact. I been through a’lot of failures in my life which pushed me more to carry on my sport because it was my therapy.

The genre of this piece is a feature video. Leah Lagos and Jaspl Ricky Singh inform people about the athletic brain. This video’s style is informative. The Ted-ed company uses the topic to appeal from nonathletic young watchers or old. This video is also appealing logos for its rhetorical analysis. The Ted-ed also wants the viewers to understand what benefits people gain from training there body. The Ted-ed youtube company is very credible due to there 20 million subscribers and watchers and its also a global network of over 250,000 teachers. TED-Ed has grown from an idea worth spreading into an award-winning education platform that serves millions of teachers and students around the world.
