ARTH 1204: 20th Century Dress and Culture
Project Description
This project involves attending a museum exhibit and analyzing its presentation of fashion within social, cultural, and historical contexts. Participants choose either to write a detailed review or deliver an in-class presentation based on their visit. The analysis focuses on key garments, textual elements, or videos featured in the exhibit, as well as the curatorial decisions that shaped the narrative and learning experience. The project encourages critical reflection on the exhibit’s execution, exploring how effectively it conveyed its themes and the impact of its design on understanding fashion’s evolution. Through this, participants deepen their appreciation of fashion’s role as a cultural artifact and its relationship to broader societal trends.
Professor’s Reflection
A very strong review, Leilani, I appreciated the connections you’re making! (Grade: A)
Personal Reflection
This was good practice for me to remain goal oriented in developing presentations, I have a tendency of being “over creative” at times; I was glad it was received well. This alternative method was actually developed from TikTok, as I saw numerous moms with reasonable concern of loosing their child. I found the concern an important thing to highlight within the promise of this product.
