Internship Progress October 24-26th

This week events have started to resume, however they are now smaller and more confined in smaller locations. From a Student leadership workshop discussing how to overcome stress and situation within groups to a Domestic Violence Awareness event, I photographed both events without much trouble.
While the locations of these events may be small with less activities than previous events I have attended, I made sure to capture at least 50 or more photos as well as stay in case of more attendees arriving or certain moments that may occur from interactions to change in positions. This week with my photography internship taught me that sometimes I have to work more with less I am given. Even if an event may be small, there are multiple different possibilities to be creative with photo taking.

Current Internship Progress October 17-19

As of this week from October 17th to the 19th, plans have slightly changed at my internship work place until further notice.
Events that I was scheduled to attend and photograph had been postponed until further notice due to current real life situations, however I was assigned different projects still related to adobe editing and can be used for use of City Tech. Through a combination of working in Illustrator, After Effects, and Media Encoder I now have to create animation intros that will be used for social media and presentations when videos and montage of photos for each event are shown.
What I have learned so far is that sometimes I have to adapt to different situations and changes in plans at times under these circumstances. I have also learned to familiar myself with After Effect’s different options to create unique intros while staying on topic with which topics each animated intro will be used for. These intros also have to feature the college’s logo and color scheme which is something I keep in mind of when working.
We will see if the college events will resume soon, but for now I will continue working with my current assigned work.

Week 6 reponse

In this weeks two articles, a common theme of how visualization can affect perspectives on art is noticed. While we can admire an artwork for what it presents and what we think looks pleasing, another aspect to keep in mind is the construction of the image itself and how certain elements within are presented.
Gyorgy Kepes’ article discusses how we look at images in terms of the compositions with the usage of materials and how they are positions along the lines. Objects in an image with different comparisons and contrasts along the direction of points and lines help give the viewers a focus. All of this gives the image its own characteristics while still being noticable. The writer also mentions how utilizing different dynamics is also a challenge many advertisers have a challenge with in the modern era.
The usage of visualizations can also to attributed to Beatrice Warde’s article. While it focuses on the subject of printed materials and the beauty and art it may appear to be, some aspects of it such as typography may or may not affect it. The article mentions the concept of transparent typography, how text had to be looked at and not through. Similar to the previous article, certain aspects of an image have to be noticable and stand out to the viewer or it may go unnoticed to some.

Week 5 reponse

The usage of typography and art can be seen in everyday life through extensive methods, but sometimes they are both used differently depending on certain events of time periods. In this week’s articles provided, they bring awareness to this idea and how for better and for worse these art forms were changed.
One of the major aspects brought up was the Bauhaus and how typography and art could only be studied by students. The author of the article mentions how this creates an isolation between the artists and the connection with the handicraft industry and life. Art according to the article is not something can just be studied which was one of the many mistakes of the Bauhaus. Art itself is not only something can be used to create or study, as different forms of communications come from it. But not through normal communication as with language, some art forms such as photography according to the second article gives its own communication through visual presentation which in a way can be a future step to how art is perceived by some.
In terms of advancing the future of art, the final article of the week does touch upon certain elements of what could be possible and what benefits and risks it could bring. Most notably, how changing the future of art can also change the methods of communication drastically even with simple revitalizations as small as a new alphabet. While there are many different demands for advancing art either as a service or fine art, the possibilities may seem endless as well as a risk to not repeat mistakes made with previous attempts to change art forms.

Week 4 Response

The articles given this week may have been more difficult than previous weeks, but they do focus on a different aspect of design similar to the other readings. This time however, they reflect designs of specific time periods and their inner thoughts of what designing and ideologies mean to them and to other people.
One thing I have noticed in these articles written as Manifestos is how they reflect a certain time period in terms of how certain things are described. From the Future Manifesto’s view of ideas in relation to violence, to the Who We Are manifesto explaining the design and ideas of certain structures such as bridges are not created from imagination nor were obligated to create. How society benefits from different creations as well as some negative aspects when different technology is utilized instead. In a way, this could reflect how ideas and creations are utilized and sometimes criticized in the modern era.
The format some of these articles were written and broken into separate lines may appear off to some, but to others could highlight different emotion when discussing the negative or important aspects of design and ideology.

Week 2 Response

Language is a concept used everyday by our society, whether as a form of communication or to keep record of history. But some aspects of language itself and its concept can be explored more as mentioned in the given readings.
What some may not see in Language is how words or letters can not only have different terms within certain parts of the world, but also different interpretations with its concept and psychological imprint through the sounds of the word or letter. This honestly gives a different perspective on language itself and what it means outside of social nature.
The usage of language also extends to other concepts, such as how it is utilized as a graphic, what it connects for the speaker, linked relationships, and much more. Some ideas mentioned in the readings may seem vague, but others bring interesting questions regarding language and how we utilize it. Whether we understand its different uses outside of just speaking or communication.

Week 1 Response

The terms of Design and Creativity have taken many different interpretations even in modern times, from different artworks made digitally or on a physical canvas. But two articles I have read shine a different light upon these concepts, and how art can be interpreted outside its own work field space.

When one thinks of Designers, many different ideas come to mind. Based on the readings, Designers can be seen through different forms aside from just creating artwork, but through different creations and techniques within everyday life. Almost everything has a natural beauty that can be admired similar to how one can admire an artwork, a person simply creating something through engineering could also apply to design.

The idea of design can also be seen not only as a method of creation, but also a social activity. How certain works can bring attention and awareness for those with similar interests within creativity field or admire the finished work presented. It can also be seen as a social activity due to how certain projects require more than one person’s input in order to complete to respond to different designs.
