Part One: Shape – Organic form to Geometric Graphic

The focus of this assignment was to take an actual, living form and create it into a geometric shape. For my project I illustrated a type of flower called a coneflower. Then I made it into a silhouette in order to show the outline of the flower. I proceeded to make it into a graphic symbol, followed by obtaining my geometric graphic.

Part 2: Symmetry Design

The focus of this part of the assignment was to make a symmetry design that involved combining the organic and geometric graphic images.

This assignment helped me understand the principles of symmetry, including balance, structure, and pattern. I had a lot of fun making this part of the assignment even though it involved a lot of cutting and pasting. Overall, it was worth it and I am very happy with my outcome.
