Courses Description/ Overview:

The course examines theories related to appearance, clothing, and fashion as well as the impact they have on cultural identities, gender perceptions, and consumer behavior. Contemporary attire from various cultures inside and outside the United States is assessed. Clothing serves as a communication system representing individuality and one’s place within specific societal structures like family, economy, religion, and governance. The examination of technologies and dress types in relation to conduct patterns helps to understand values about morality, hygiene, rituals, and attractiveness.
