The Road Not Taken

“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway,” Earl Nightingale said. Robert Frost poem The Road Not taken can be viewed in many different ways. Frost a renowned poet from the 80s and 90s poems are in my opinion about there will be another chance to go back on the decisions taken action by the character or who ever is involve in the poem. The poem The Road Not taken describes a journey of a traveler and the decisions he ends up making. When reading the poem it shows the reader the second guessing traveler if he made the proper choice upon traveling in the woods. Not making up your mind can be very stressful in reality as it takes up time, brings excuses, and delays to your dreams and hopes.

Many us wish we can stop time but in reality have to accept the fact no matter what they do it keeps going on. A major point that can be discuss about the poem The Road Not Taken is time as the traveler in the woods doesn’t know which of the two paths he should take at the end he chose a path that was much “shorter”. He said “Yet knowing how ways leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back” him thinking there would be another time in which he will be able to take the other path. But, in reality there wont be another time, as he might not come back to the woods. The traveler takes his time evaluating the roads that will lead him to his destination and describes each of them having their own characteristics and personalities.

Another point that can be made the poem that Frost wrote is that the traveler is that he his making excuses in which he couldn’t take the other path. Other excuses would be how he says that he is one person who can only travel one road at a time and says “ And sorry I could not travel both”. Traveler first excuses would be that one path is “shorter” than the other as he says “ Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim,” even tough it might be shorter as the traveler describes the path he chosen to take both will lead to his destination and doesn’t take up or waste his time and wants to reach his destination pick as possible.

Excuses are used to cover up the truth in which people are hiding everyday. In the poem The Road Not Taken by Frost you can see as the traveler makes excuses in his journey in the woods. Another noticeable excuse is how the traveler mentions that there will be another time in which he will take the other path some other day. It can be shown that time might have to deal with the decisions the actions the character takes as it might have quickly decided on the path he will take. The traveler says, “I kept the first for another day!” that another day wont be happening as he states “doubted if I should ever come back.” Knowing that there will be another time he decides not taking he road in which he would have preferred. As the traveler already made the decision he said that he road he was going to take and said, “Because it was grassy and wanted wear” another excuses for not taking the road he would have wanted to travel.

Every dreams and hopes are big and want to achieve them but some fail on the way their. The traveler in The Road Not Taken wish, dream, or hope for that there will another time in which he could take the path in which he would have wanted to travel. He dreams that he could go back and travel the path or hopes there will be another time in which he can travel the path he would of love to taken. He hopes and dreams that there will be a second chance in which he will have to travel to the woods again but this time to take up all the time he wants to travel during his next journey. He dreams that time doesn’t go by quick as he says “ I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence” describing that time is making this impossible for his to travel both paths as there might not be another opportunity. He also says another day or time he would go back and travel the path he should have travel back them, as he knows time goes by quickly and there might not be a next time or another opportunity and as a result of this might bring regrets in life.

Not making up your mind can be very stressful in reality as it takes up time, brings excuses, and delays to your dreams and hopes. Every action a person takes might have or not consequences in life. As in the poem the traveler might have regretted taken the path that was suppose shorter to him and not taken the path he would have like to travel making him might regret the choice he made during that time he was traveling in the woods. Time has a big part in our lives as it goes by quick and the choices we make might have a positive or negative outcome in our lives and to enjoy every aspect of it or soon as we go old might regret it.
