Learning Outcome 2 Lab 11

Identify and define common drawing types including:

  • Ground Plan
  • Center Line Section
  • Elevation
  • Construction Drawing
  • Lighting/Sound/Projection Plot
  • System Block Diagram
  • Electrical/pneumatic schematics

For this learning outcome I will be referring back to Lab 7 & Lab 8 from AutoCAD and Lab 11 (Light Plot) from VectorWorks. In Lab 7 we had to measure a flat using a tape measure and draft it onto AutoCAD. When we had to organize/align our section views from: Top, Front, Bottom, Left, Right, and Back; we had to create construction lines to space out the section views correctly. I tweaked the printing setup on Lab 7 to furthermore show my usage of construction lines. In Lab 8 we had to measure a ground plan of the proscenium and draft it onto AutoCAD as well. The ground plan included a center line section that helped create the foundation of our drawing by setting the center line to (0,0). For the elevation portion, Lab 7 itself is an elevated view of the proscenium looking down from above. In Lab 11, the light plot itself is a pneumatic schematic in the sense that it shows exactly where to connect each light and what channel/circuit each light is going to as well as color gel. We didn’t really get into too much detail on system block diagrams during class, but to keep it simple a system block diagram is a visual representation of the system as large interacting components that can be conceptualized and augmented independently.
