My name is Jamila Kinsale and it is with great enthusiasm that I submit this formal introduction to my E-portfolio. To say that the path of dentistry was chosen by me would be untrue. My Mom who I lost last year went to the dentist and was treated with such a high level of professionalism and care by a young woman she said reminded her of me. She came home and suggested I consider a career in dental assisting. That day I went online and completed the research and I’ve never looked back since. I have fallen so in love with the art of dentistry I graduated at the top of my class and was named Valedictorian. I am highly committed to growing as a dental hygienist and feel honored to have been a part of a program that values the importance of increasing oral health awareness in an effort to mentally and physically prepare me to provide effective preventive and restorative services while promoting overall oral health maintenance.
Through my coursework I have gained an in depth understanding of what it takes to be an efficient dental hygienist. As my resume will show my extensive experience gained while servicing patients as an assistant have affirmed my interest/desire to further my education and become a dentist. It also provided me the opportunity to enhance my competencies and skill sets in case management, multiple PMS systems, infection control and evidence based treatments tailored to meet patient’s dental needs. I firmly believe my career goal of providing ethically and culturally competent dental services aligns perfect with the learning objectives of this university.
