Hello! My name is Jasmyn, and I’m currently a Communication Design student at NYC College of Technology. My areas of focus are Illustration and Animation.
Like most ‘90s kids, I spent most of my free time in front of a tv watching cartoons. I was also an avid reader, especially of anything that was illustrated. I would draw my own characters and imagine the worlds they would live in. Later in life when I learned what graphic design was, I realized I could turn my interests into a career, which led me to pursuing my degree at City Tech.
Although it was my childhood love of drawing that got me started on my creative path, once I started taking design classes as an adult, I was exposed to the more digital aspect of the creative industry, and that inspired me just as much. Learning the ins-and-outs of Adobe programs like Illustrator, Photoshop and Animate introduced me to many new ways that I create something amazing out of a blank canvas.
My goal is to be able to use the skills I’ve gained here at City Tech to one day entertain and inspire a new generation of creatives who might see some of themselves in me. I hope to accomplish that goal with either my own animated series or a series of illustrated books.
