Journal Entry 3

I did not have any hours schedule for today, but I did have some concepts for the Scifi Symposium to work on. I like to take my work home at times; sometimes I just think better at my own desk. With all my other work caught up on, I have enough time to really think through what concepts I would like to potentially design. Hopefully, the professor I am working on this with will be able to meet face-to-face tomorrow as we were able to last week. It is better to meet in person and be able to present your ideas rather than through email.

Journal Entry 2

Even when I am not in the actual office during working hours, I continue to chip away at my to do list of the week. It’s a Saturday morning now, and part of that list is working on concepts for the new “Symposium on Science Fiction” poster that is being held in November. It is an amazing opportunity to design this poster. I am a budding Scifi buff and this is right up my alley. I am currently creating concepts to first present before moving on to design what will be the final piece. The first two posters for the symposium were created by Marlon Palmer, my old co-worker and City Tech grad! As I am an Illustrator first (and designer second :D), I will be trying my hand at illustrating and coloring this piece by both traditional and digital means. The end result will more than likely mix & match the mediums.

Aside from this exciting project, I am also keeping up with my other clients and making sure I am up-to-date sending them their required designs for all upcoming workshops. This job is where I had to learn time management the hard way. I still struggle with it from time to time, but I have learned how to better juggle all I need to do.

Journal Entry 1: In The Beginning…

Thankfully, when starting Internship class I did not have to do much work to search. I have been with Faculty Commons since Fall of ’17. It was my first design related job and it was so hard to assimilate in terms of feeling like I belonged. Everyone seemed in the zone and like they were born for their internship position. Meanwhile, I sat in my corner wondering what I got myself into and whether I would measure up in any way. I am now in my 3rd semester working there! I recently thought back to my first days there and laughed at my newbie thoughts during the first days. I used to walk slowly to the office and repeat a positive mantra to keep myself going. Now, I’m there early and ready for the day!
