Introduction

Hi, my name is Idiatu Jalloh. I am a Professional and Technical Writing student at New York City College of Technology, CUNY. I can honestly say that ever since I learned to read, I have wanted to be a writer. I strongly believe that writing is the most empowering and freeing form of expression an individual can possessive.

Because I grew up as a war refugee, I didn’t learn how to read until the age of twelve but ever since I learned, I have been an avid reader. I read everything I laid my eyes on  from manuals, current events, history, to novels. Because of this, I value all great writing in every field, and I have developed an interest in both technical and creative writing. additionally, I have become interested in the editing of both types of texts. As a technical writing student at New York City College of Technology, most of my courses focus on technical writing. However, I have had the opportunity to study creative writing, history, literature, and computer science. I have learned to write and read different types texts, and I have also learned to edit them.  As a result, I have gain different skill sets and increased my writing and editing range.
My specialty in the field of Professional and Technical Writing is Computer Science. Not only have I taken several computer science courses, and I have also worked as a computer technician for two years. Because of both my education and in-field experience, I am familiar with computer hardware, computer software, and computer networking. I have a CompTIA Network Plus certificate. I have taken programming languages courses in both Java and C++, and web programming courses that focus on HTML, CSS, SQL, PHP, and JavaScript. My education and work experience have enabled me to understand computer technology and to be a competent writer and editor in Technical Writing, especially in the field of computer science. I have learned to produce texts that are clear, concise, and accurate. And becauseI am learning more each day.
