Ever since I was 3-years-old, I was introduced to the world of computers. It seems like yesterday but I can surprisingly remember that day that I tried out the computer for the first time. It was running Windows 3.1 and all it can do is access MS-DOS where I was able to run games on the computer with those huge floppy disks. It was an amazing experience for me and I kind of end up learning how to use it by myself. I think my parents just gave me the computer and said “Have fun!” not giving my any clue how to use it. Yet, I learned it myself and it was fun and awesome!
It was until we upgraded our computer to Windows 95 when my parents decided to purchase a dial-up plan so we can access the internet. AOL, or American Online, was the browser provider we started using to access the web. After messing around with the web, it was a strange yet wonderful experience full of information, games, and music for me to check out. Back then, the web looked kind of weird and cheap compared to how websites look today. Interactive and beautifully designed websites didn’t even come about until a decade later when Javascript became an amazing tool and HTML4 and CSS2 came about. It was since that my discovery of the web grew me into loving it every single day. Being able to do research, play games, communicate with people that have the same interest as I do, and start a community and fanbase with people from all over the world, the internet became this place that pretty much presents the world in one place in the comfort of your own home.
I started becoming a web designer due to my interest in the web and becoming a designer making mockups and designs for websites. At first, I wasn’t so sure of becoming a web designer until I took my first web course that the mix of design and coding became this inspiring cloud that really got me hooked to becoming this type of designer. Also, during the time too that I discovered out of complete random a web designer and animator, Radio Gosha, who does amazing designs for dance music videos and was seen in one of my favorite rhythm games, Dance Dance Revolution. You can say, I was inspired to become a web designer and I love 2D animation. Speaking of animation, there’s also Vocaloid animated videos from YouTube that inspired me to design as well. Since I’m part of a Vocaloid community online, these people who I meet and communicate with are very creative and gave me ideas on how to design more efficiently. It’s also rather awesome since some of these people who are into Vocaloid are mostly from Japan.
Well, that’s pretty much my story to why I got into the whole web design thing. I love it and I want to continue to make websites, designs for people, and continue to learn how to build advanced websites like the interactive websites I post on this blog. It’s a long road ahead until I can really learn everything there is to know about building websites but I’m trying and I’m going to continue doing my best.
