This project is about creating three visual quotes. The quote I’m using is a lyric piece: “My overthinking, over and over.” by a Hip-hop duo group called, OFFONOFF, their song, “Overthinking” came to mind when I thought of making up a few concepts for this project. To be honest, these three visual quotes were actually created last minute. The original quote I used was: In Vino Veritas, but I wasn’t satisfied with it. However, I enjoyed the drawing aspect of creating a concept for “Overthinking”
Visual Quote #1:
For this visual quote, I wanted to make a drawing for it. I searched up a visual representation of what it means to “overthink” I came across some images that gives a great visual of it.
This image is one of the examples I found interesting to use:
Draft:
Moreover, I wanted to make the background dark because it gives off a mood of feeling out of place or despair. Blue is associated with sadness and suffering from bad times. The typeface is a San Serif and I used an Arial font. I used it because it’s a simple font and it’s easy to read, but I put overthinking in bold because it’s the most important word in the visual quote. I didn’t want to overdo the quote with different fonts, which will make it not look good. Also, I made the words over and over to make it seem like it was falling. I put OFFONOFF on the inside of the person’s arm because it would make it look like a tattoo.
Visual Quote #2:
Based on the images I searched up I came across this image that captured my attention.
Draft:
When drawing this, I thought of a wallpaper in my phone that has two girls with the top of their heads open. Then I thought this would be a good idea for this visual quote. The subject looks concerned and she is looking straight at you. When the viewer looks at it, you can tell that she’s feeling conflicted. You feel like this when you’re overwhelmed and thinking too much. The arrows are coming out of her head, which explains how overwhelming it is when the subject is thinking too much. However, it gives off a sort of creepy vibe to it.
Visual Quote #3:
For this last visual quote, I didn’t think much of it. At first, the original drawing for this was supposed to turn out like this:
First Draft:
Unfortunately, the visual quote idea did not meet my expectations, so I decided to change the concept to this:
Second Draft:
This idea is better than the last visual quote. It fits well with the concept of the quote. When the viewer looks at it, it gives off a sense of confusion. When it comes to overthinking, I think of scribbles or a group of lines being tangled up.
Visual quotes that did not make it:
