Housing and Zoning,Open Space and Boundaries
Content
HOUSING AND ZONING R.S. lives with her daughter in a 2 bedroom apartment located on 150 Ocean Avenue. This apartment complex was built in 1927 and it is a multifamily elevator building.  There are also many one and two family homes, multifamily homes, as well as low-income housing. Because many of the homes were built in the early to mid 1900s, they were constructed from brick, wood, and vinyl sliding. These homes vary in size, most of the homes are well-kept older homes while others need maintenance or reconditioning. The Flatbush area is a lively  commercial / residential neighborhood. As a result, much of the open space is very limited and scarce. There are also areas of vacant land scattered around the neighborhood. BOUNDARIES The boundaries of Flatbush have changed many times over the years.  The geographical boundaries of Flatbush include : Parkside Avenue, The Bay Ridge Branch freight line tracks below Brooklyn College, New York Avenue, and Coney Island Avenue. The selected area includes parts of Prospect Park South, East Flatbush, Midwood, and Kensington & Parkville.  There is a strong democratic political affiliation as well non-affiliations in this region.
