    This one is particularly useful when trying to get students to use the new vocabulary words they will encounter during their reading. I would ask that each student does at least 1 of these exercises every class and post them on blackboard for the other students to read and comment on. This template can be modified and many other styles are available, some which include draw a picture options.

    Another strategy for dealing with vocabulary is designing a word search. Here is a link to a word-search generator and a draft of one that I made for the key words in chapter 1 of Mader’s Biology.
