Dear students,
I hope you enjoyed our visit to the NY Historical Society Archives as much as I did! I spoke with archivist Maureen Maryanski after the tour and she encourages you all to contact her and return to the archive to research your projects. Her email is:
maureen.maryanski@nyhistory.org I also thanked Maureen for the wonderful preparation of precious materials for the tour.
Here is the Society’s searchable database of archival material: http://bobcat.library.nyu.edu/primo_library/libweb/action/search.do?vid=NYHS
Write down the catalogue information of the document you wish to view. Then, before your visit, make sure to register as a user of the library and make a request of materials: https://nyhs.aeon.atlas-sys.com/aeon/
If you need help with any of this, Maureen is very happy to help you navigate the system and help guide your searches.
Your final grade for your research projects will benefit tremendously if you make use of the architectural and theater guide books and encyclopedias Maureen showed us and/or you return to the archive to conduct more research. Please make use of the invaluable resources. (By the way, the published books she showed us at the beginning are available also through the NY Public Library or one of the CUNY libraries).
All best,
Prof. Swift
