The Mary Ellen Wilson Case was terribly surprising to me because I couldn’t believe that animals had more rights than children in the 1800’s. I commend the Social Worker Ms. Wheeler, and Mr. Henry Bergh, for stepping up to help this little girl. Mary Ellen was living a horrific life that no child nor human being should have went through so I commend the people who stand up, and being a voice for those who are victimized and can’t stand up for themselves. There’s still so much work to be done in this area, because it’s still silently happening in our day and age. We can either be a part of the problem or be apart of the change towards finding concrete answers, as well as, solutions to eradicate these horrible events.
