This is something I found on The Washington Post- Post Everything, the thoughts of Christia Mercer is the Professor of Philosophy at Columbia University. In New York State, no state funds can be used to support secondary-education in prison. The professor believes in the right to an education, even on lock down. She stated that “If our job as educators is to nurture intellectual growth and contribute to a thoughtful future for our country, what could be more obvious than to help those who are educationally under-served?” I think too think that there should be money spent on the education of prisoners, who are under served in prisons, education is part of the rehabilitation process. What do you think?
