Description: Bacterial Classification: Clostridium Difficile

Hey people its your girl Clostridium Difficile but my close friends and family call me C Diff for short. Hmmm what should I tell you guys about myself. I am a motile bacteria which means that I am capable of moving spontaneously. I can describe myself as long and irregular, they often compare me to a drumstick. My cells are Gram-positive and I can grow inside of the human body without the presence of air. Meaning that I am a anaerobic growing bacteria. I can be found usually in the intestines of a human. I like spending most of my free time in hospitals, nursing homes as well as other medical institutions.

I can obtain energy by fermentation of carbon and nitrogen substances. I contain 6 amino acids: Leucine, isoleucine, Valine, Proline, Tryptophan and last but not least Glycine. Im a pathogen, I usually cause the host in to have diarrhea, fever, loss of appetite, nausea and belly aches. My virulence factors include toxins A & B. I have fibre used for specific attachment to the gut so that they can be rid of easily. I also produce capsules as well. My family is Clostridiaceae and my genus is Clostridium. My friends include: Clostridiaceae, Halanaerobiales and Thermoanerobacteriales. I have tons and tons of pictures. I also had a couple of highlights a few yrs back. On June 2003 there had been two outbreaks of my kind that was reported in Montreal, Quebec and Calgary, Alberta. I had another one that had taken place at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in the UK btw 2003 and 2005. Thats enough about me. See you guys around. :)
