    Line 1: The sun made its usual round of the house = personification

    Line 7: As I lurched and lunged with the hand mower = alliteration

    Line 10: then sped towards us down, down, quite sharply = personification

    Line 11: ivied brick house and high-sloping lawn = alliteration

    Line 13: A reek of sap mingled with the pineapple = personification

    Line 14: Marion and Mabel = alliteration

    Line 17: both talking at the top of their sunny voices = metaphor

    Line 24: Green Goat = alliteration

    Line 26: before the shadows snapped, and swung by at an idiotic pace = personification

    Line 30: Calm pale profile = alliteration
