Language Narratives HW
Content
Within a language narrative there are many important aspects that a writer should not forget to include. Ingredients of a language narrative include clear organization, imagery, point of view and many more. Clear organization will allow the readers to follow the narrative with a good understanding of the story arc and the conflict as well as resolution. Writers should also include imagery to further submerge the reader into the narrative and create a piece that maintains their interest. Lastly, a clear point of view makes it clearer to readers why the writer may have struggled with language, feels the way they do towards certain individuals or groups and why they may have chosen that specific event to write about. When thinking of writing my own language narrative it’s hard to picture what I would write about. Although I am Puerto Rican, I am not fluent in Spanish and struggle to hold complex conversations with other Spanish speakers. I started working at my job last year during the summer and it was really a struggle because most of my coworkers speak Spanish. But I would like to think that my Spanish has improved and my connection with them is greater. This is because we help each other learn English and Spanish while also finding  ways to communicate non-verbally. One of my questions is does the event I choose have to be a major “life changing” event or it can be one that was minor? Also, I would like to know what questions should I be asking myself when narrowing down the events I want to choose from? My last question would be, do the language barriers solely have to be about native languages or can it be different ways of colloquial language?
