How do mass genocides happen? I’m interested in this question for many different reasons. Firstly, I’m interested because of the state of the world right at night with Palestine vs. Israel. I’m also interested because ever since i was little my grandma always made me watch documentaries on different genocide and i always found it crazy how they even happen in the first place. Seeing so many documentaries and first-person accounts of mass genocides has made me deeply passionate in finding out the reason behind how they did it and how could they do it? I’m also interested because I’ve always has a passion for looking at real world situations in a psychological lens. I’m really interested to know the psychology behind the people who lead mass genocides and the psychology behind the people whose country is the one inflicting the genocide. In my research I expect to find really heartbreaking pictures and documents. Every single mass genocide is a tragedy and it always in the end effects the generations that come after the people who were murdered. Although I know there have been many mass genocides, I will most likely only be looking at more popular ones. I will look into the steps on how they did it and how people blindly follow and enable. Originally my question was going to be can a mass genocide happen in America, but I feel like the answer is clear. I want to research why is it so clear that a mass genocide would most likely never happen in America and what makes us different than we were back then. From prior knowledge I know that Americans have led a mass genocide against indigenous people. I also know that Americans had Chinese people in work camps due to the Chinese exclusion act. Although that wasn’t technically a genocide people were treated horribly and some possibly killed. For Americans to even allow that raises the question how they even happen in the first place.
