- Research or Free Write about the Subject — set a timer for 5 minutes and write all the thoughts that come into your mind about it.
- Create a Simple Outline –this doesn’t have to be long or the complicated scaffolded one we used for the research paper. It can be just a simple list of supporting ideas that are different from each other.
- Write a Rough Draft— Fill in the outline. Write each paragraph, maybe one or two at a time until the paper is finished.
- Read it Aloud to a friend. You will catch your mistakes so much faster if you read them aloud.
- Fix the mistakes and polish it! You are finished! Congratulations.
