Your gut microbiome is made up of trillions of bacteria, fungi and other microbes. The gut microbiome plays a very important role in your health by helping control digestion and benefiting your immune system and many other aspects of health.

The gut microbiome plays a very important role in your health by helping control digestion and benefiting your immune system and other aspects of health. Imbalance of unhealthy and healthy microbes in the intestines can help to weight gain, high blood sugar, high cholesterol and other disorders. For the growth of healthy microbes in your gut, eat a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and fermented foods.

The bacteria in our gut plays an important role in digestion. When the stomach and small intestine are unable to digest certain foods we eat, gut microbes jump in to offer a helping hand, ensuring we get the nutrients we need. They imparts specific functions in host nutrient metabolism and can also protect against pathogens. In addition, gut bacteria are known to aid the production of certain vitamins – such as vitamins B and K which play a major role in immune function. The more diverse our gut is , the better it is for our body. Aside from helping to control digestion and our immune system, the downside of gut microbiomes can be high blood sugar, cholesterol, weight gain which can lead to other health complications like diabetes if not controlled. In order to have health microbes you have to eat healthy.

The bacteria in our gastrointestinal tract is called gut microbiome. It consists of bacteria, microorganisms, viruses, protozoa and fungi which inhabits every single milometer which means there are trillions of them. They play a role in our metabolism, body weight, appetite, immunity and mood. These microorganisms help break down food and turn nutrients into things your body can use. The good bacteria also keep the bad bacteria in check by being more abundant than the bad ones. This is what some call a equilibrium. When there is a unbalance some diseases associated with that are Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative colitis, Irritable bowel syndrome. The gut bacteria affects everything system in the body and needs to be in check.

The gut biome can be defined as a collection of microorganisms such a bacteria, fungi, viruses and many others living in our digestive tract. The gut biome synthesizes vitamins, breaks down complex carbohydrates and alters the break down or metabolism of drugs. They also protect the body against enteropathogenic organisms and extract and synthesize nutrients from undigested dietary components. The gut microbiome also controls the body’s response to infections by regulating the functions of the immune system
