Strive to serve high need disproportionate communities, including single parents and low income communities.

Connect people with opportunities to build household stability, including enrolling in health insurance, connecting with health care partners through cross sector partnership and building financial security.

 

Prevention methods NYC Kids:

  1. HRA Anti-Poverty Interventions for Kids,
  • City Family Eviction Prevention Supplement and City Family Exit Plan Supplement —(CityFHEPS) FHEPS. FHEPS is a rent supplement for families with children who receive Cash Assistance and have been evicted or are facing eviction, who lost their housing due to a domestic violence situation, or who have lost their housing because of health or safety issues.
  • Solution: Streamlined seven of the City rental assistance programs we administer into a single program- creates a safe environment, quick access to food programs and health programs for kids and household. HRA offers rental assistance and emergency grants to keep families and individuals housed.
  1. ACCESS HRA Provider Portal, Workforce training program,

Solution:  Empower teenagers in training for GED and life skills, Empower teenagers in summer work programs, and after-school programs

  • including rental assistance * universal access to counsel * employment services * Fair Fares
  • Solution: Lesson financial burden of low income and alleviate food insecurity
  1. HRA Anti-Poverty Interventions for Young Adults(College Students)
  • The Excelsior Scholarship Program launched in 2017 will also greatly assist many college students with the availability of free tuition for CUNY and SUNY schools.

Solution:   Elimination of this substantial expense for low- and middle-income families and individuals, students are able to pursue and aim to complete their college education and free up cash to purchase food, medication, and other essential items.(This also provides future high Income households)

 

Prevention methods NYC for Elderly:

  1. HRA Anti-Poverty Interventions for Elderly,
  • Benefits Data Trust’s (BDT) implemented a phone and direct mail campaign for seniors who are not receiving SNAP

Solution: Seniors respond to this targeted outreach, then highly‐trained staff from the New York Benefits Center guide them through the process from beginning to end.
